The Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Uzbekistan – Latvia Friendship Society held a virtual roundtable discussion on “Samarkand and Jurmala – twin cities”.

Deputy Chairman of the Committee V. Tyan noted that Uzbekistan is developing mutually beneficial relations with various countries, creating the necessary conditions for representatives of all nationalities, preserving their culture, traditions and national values.

At the meeting, information was provided on the work carried out by the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries, in particular by Uzbekistan – Latvia Friendship Society, to popularize the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan abroad.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Latvia K. Sultanov noted that relations between the two countries, in particular, trade and economic, educational, as well as interregional ties, are developing positively.

It was noted that the signing of a Cooperation Agreement between the administration of the city of Samarkand and the Jurmala City Council became a great impetus for the development of relations between the two countries and peoples.
