As part of the joint project on automation of monitoring of atmospheric air pollution, the Zamin Foundation and the Hydrometeorological Service Agency, with the support of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), held a roundtable discussion dedicated to the development of national air quality standards in Uzbekistan.
Uzhydromet, together with the Ministry of Health, presented the current results of standardization work. In his presentation, the UNEP representative highlighted the potential of using air quality data to make informed judgments and management decisions on clean air.

A representative from the Finnish Meteorological Institute presented the requirements for effectively using air quality data for forecasting. The WHO expert emphasized the importance of considering the region’s natural and climatic features and their impact on public health when developing national air quality standards.
The event also focused on the Convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air Pollution and discussed the benefits of developing national standards for Uzbekistan.
