14:41 / 2022-11-21

On November 23, two major exhibitions timed to the history and culture of Uzbekistan will kick off in Paris.

In particular, the Arab World Institute will open an exhibition “The Road to Samarkand. Miracles of Silk and Gold”, and in the Louvre – “The Splendours of Uzbekistan’s Oases. At the Crossroads of Caravan Routes”.

“The upcoming exhibition has two main goals”, says archaeologist at the Louvre Museum and the Exhibition Curator Rocco Rante. – First, to show the civilization and culture of Central Asia in Europe. Paris, of course, is a leader in this field, since prestigious museums, such as the Louvre, are located here. The culture of the Arab world is also well represented here.

Second, it should be taken into account that the history of Central Asia is closely linked with the history of the Eurasian continent. Therefore, there are a lot of common historical events between Central Asian and European countries.

In addition, exhibitions are of great scientific importance for European and French society to get to know Central Asia better, get acquainted with the rich culture and historical figures”.
