Rhee Ik-hyeon: Constitutional reforms in Uzbekistan are a requirement of the times
13:18 / 2023-05-15

Vice President of Mokwon University and former head of the Korea Legislation Research Institute under the Ministry of Government Legislation of the Republic of Korea Rhee Ik-hyeon shared his assessment of the results of the meeting on May 8 between the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the heads of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis, parties, judicial and executive authorities, as well as public activists.

– Uzbekistan is on the threshold of a new stage of its development. I believe that the implementation of constitutional reforms in Uzbekistan is a requirement of the times, as well as the need to make reforms in the country irreversible and systemic.

Issues of citizens’ freedom, protection of their legal rights, and ensuring social security of the population has a significant place in the new Constitution of new Uzbekistan.

I fully share the idea of the leadership of Uzbekistan, which is aimed at the principle of “man, society, state”, which will serve as the primary criterion for forming a social state.

On May 8, at a meeting with the heads of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis, parties, judicial and executive authorities dedicated to the results of the referendum, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev made an important political decision to hold snap presidential elections on July 9.

Explaining this decision, the Leader of Uzbekistan noted that the people are waiting for significant and urgent transformations and reforms in all areas, and to complete such huge tasks successfully, they must give a mandate to a leader they trust.

This initiative testifies to the deep respect and devotion of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to his people.
