Namangan region’s Hokim Shavkat Abdurazakov held a dialogue with members of the delegation of Russia’s Airports of Regions Holding Company led by Sergey Krasnov.
The prospects for the development of the largest air gate of Fergana Valley – Namangan International Airport and the possibility of partnership participation in this process of the Airports of Regions Holding, were discussed at the meeting.
It was noted that further expansion and modernization of Namangan International Airport is a promising project. The possibilities of turning this airport into an international transit hub between Europe and Asia and increasing the volume of cargo transportation through the construction of an additional cargo terminal were highly appreciated. The participants exchanged views on the construction project of a single large international airport in Namangan, Fergana and Andijan regions.
The Airports of Regions Holding, which participates in the modernization and management of international airports in such Russian cities as Rostov-on-Don, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Saratov, Tobolsk, New Urengoy and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky within the framework of a comprehensive development program based on its investments and public-private partnership, annually serves 16 million passengers at these airports. In addition, the Airports of Regions Holding, together with Novaport Holding, is implementing the Airports of the Big Country project aimed at developing small regional airports in Russia. This promising project includes 6 airports and annually serves 2 million 600 thousand passengers.
