A press conference devoted to the first anniversary of organization of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held.

A press conference devoted to the first anniversary of organization of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held.

The event was attended by heads of national cultural centers operating in the country, members of friendship societies, representatives of various ministries and departments, journalists.

Representatives of more than 130 nations and nationalities live in Uzbekistan in friendship and harmony. The Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries coordinates the activities of 138 national cultural centers, 34 friendship societies of the country, contributes to preservation of history, culture, spiritual values of representatives of all nationalities living in the country, and further development of their traditions and customs.

At the press conference the results of the committee’s activity for the past short period were summed up, information on forthcoming tasks was given. About 600 events were held over the past year together with national cultural centers and friendship societies.

National cultural centers as public associations, in addition to developing and promoting a unique culture of representatives of various nationalities, are also conducting educational work among youth. Outreach activities aimed at forming feelings of respect for the culture and customs of other people among the growing generation are being regularly conducted.

At the event, opinions and suggestions, recommendations on the future activities of the committee were made.
