Various moral enlightenment events are also being conducted in Namangan Region within the framework of the implementation of a Presidential decree dated 12 January 2017 “On establishing a commission for the popularization of reading and the raising of book-reading culture and for the development of the system of the publication and distribution of books”.An event devoted to Book Lovers Day has taken place on Boborahim Mashrab Avenue newly created in the town of Namangan.
There is a statue of classical poet Bobrahim Mashrab on this avenue. Improvement work has been carried out on its surroundings to modern standards of landscaping. From early morning, this place was crowded by members of the public of the region, famous writers and poets who had come from the capital city, literature enthusiasts and young people.
Special attention is being paid under the leadership of the President to the development of Uzbek national literature and the popularization of reading and the raising of book-reading culture among people, especially young people.
There was talk about Boborahim Mashrab’s creative work and his contribution to the development of Uzbek classic literature.
“Great scientists and scholars native to Uzbekistan’s land made a big contribution to the development of world science and literature and carried out fruitful work for the development of literature and art. Mashrab was a big thinker of his time and a brave poet. His works were translated into languages of Europe,” says Shuhrat Rizayev, chief editor of the Jahon Adabiyoti (world literature) magazine.
At the ceremony, representatives of state and public organizations and literature enthusiasts laid flowers at the statue. Poets read out poems which they had written inspired by Boborahim Mashrab’s creative work. Students read out some of his poems.
An exhibition of books was arranged by the Region’s information-library centre, editorial offices and book shops in the town of Namangan.
A scientific-practical conference was held at Namangan’s state university. At this conference, speeches by literary scholars were heard about Marshrab’s works and about Mashrab poems’ translations into foreign languages.
An evening of poetry and music was held at the Namangan college of art.
Moral enlightenment events devoted to the 377th birth anniversary of Boborahim Mashrab and Book Lovers Day are also being conducted at educational establishments and neighbourhoods in the region.
