13:11 / 2024-07-04

Bucharest hosts the summer session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE PA).

More than 300 members of parliament and cooperation partners from 53 countries are participating in the event. The delegation from Uzbekistan is led by Ravshanbek Alimov, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, International Economic Relations, Foreign Investments and Tourism.

A meeting of the Special Committee on Countering Terrorism and a workshop on the problems of climate change and water scarcity in Central Asia were held. Draft resolutions initiated by the participating countries were considered at meetings of three committees of the Parliamentary Assembly.

Members of parliament supported the resolution to address the multifaceted consequences of climate change and water scarcity in the Central Asian region through the development of regional cooperation and parliamentary dialogue initiated by the OSCE PA in collaboration with the countries of Central Asia. This document helps to attract the world community to develop joint actions to solve environmental problems.

The session’s agenda included resolving disputes in the OSCE area, exchanging experience in ecology, protecting human rights, organizing the electoral process, and resolving several organizational and personnel issues, including budget approval.

Delegations of Turkic-speaking countries in the OSCE PA met, at which the parties discussed issues of enhancing collaboration.
