A roundtable discussion on “Religious tolerance: experience of Uzbekistan and the USA” was held at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The event was organized within the framework of the visit of the U.S. delegation to Uzbekistan led by the Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom Samuel Dale Brownback. It was attended by members of the delegation, representatives of the U.S. Institute for Global Engagement, officials of a number of ministries and agencies, civil society institutions, religious denominations.
At the event it was noted that cooperation with international religious organizations are expanding, various delegations are visiting Uzbekistan, negotiations on achieving interreligious tolerance in our multi-ethnic society, consistent implementation of democratic reforms, comprehensive development of the country are becoming practical.
Following the event, a memorandum was signed between the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Independent Institute for Monitoring Formation of Civil Society and the U.S. Institute for Global Engagement.
On the same day, the U.S. delegation held meetings at the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan and Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
