Delegation of the EU CBRN CoE Regional Secretariat for Central Asia, led by its head and Chairman of the State Committee for Industrial Safety of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Gulyamov, is attending the 4th preparatory meeting of the heads of the regional secretariats of the EU CBRN CoE Initiative on minimizing chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear risks taking place in Turin (Italy) from November 9-10, 2021.
According to the Press Service of the State Committee for Industrial Safety of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the meeting, which took place at the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute – UNICRI, is being also attended by the Regional Coordinator for Central Asia Nargizakhon Usmanova and National Coordinator of the Republic of Uzbekistan Otabek Kasimov, as well as key expert Lela Bakanidze.

In accordance with the agenda, it is expected to discuss the results of the work carried out in terms of the implementation of the roadmap for 2020 for the implementation of the above initiative, as well as the consideration and approval of the next roadmap for 2022 and preparation for the next meeting of the heads of regional secretariats to be held online on November 22, 2021.

Heads of the regional secretariats for Central Asia and South-Eastern and Eastern Europe are planning to hold bilateral meetings within the framework of interregional cooperation.

The EU CBRN CoE Initiative is funded by the European Commission and implemented in cooperation with the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) and the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC). The European External Action Service is also involved in the follow-up to the initiative. The initiative is developed with the technical support of relevant international and regional organizations, the EU Member States, and other stakeholders, through coherent and effective cooperation at the national, regional and international levels. The initiative involves over 62 countries in eight regions of the world.
