The first regional workshop on telemedicine in Central Asia, which is being held in Tashkent, is of great importance in further developing the sphere and the establishment of regional cooperation in this direction.
At the conference, organized by the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), the Department of Management of Advanced Medical Technologies in Uzbekistan, the WHO Regional Office for Europe, the German Robert Koch Institute and the Charité University Hospital, positive changes were noted in the implementation of modern high-tech methods of quality medical care, diagnosis and treatment of the population in medical institutions of the country.
The workshop, which aims to develop regional cooperation in telemedicine and exchange mutual experience, is attended by about 100 specialists from Central Asia and several other countries, representatives of international organizations, national development agencies and active donors in the region.
Participants have the opportunity to improve their knowledge on the formation of a stable telemedicine network at the regional level, exchange ideas and experience.
At the workshop, the specialists got acquainted with the work carried out in telemedicine in Central Asia, and discussed issues related to solving existing problems in the implementation of the system.
The effectiveness of reforms carried out in the country to digitalize the healthcare sector was recognized.
The workshop participants analyzed all areas of telemedicine, including clinical practice, regulation, the legal basis of the system, the technical aspect. Lectures on telemedicine in clinical settings, the transformation of the public healthcare system, the prospect of telemedicine practice, the sustainability of the telemedicine initiative were heard.
