Reforms in Uzbekistan received recognition in the United States

Washington hosted the second meeting of the Strategic Partnership Dialogue between Uzbekistan and the United States.

The Minister of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan Akbar Tashkulov chaired the fourth session dedicated to the issues of criteria of humanity.

Issues of strengthening democratic institutions in Uzbekistan and ongoing reforms in this direction, cooperation in protecting freedom of speech and supporting civil society, freedom of religion were considered.

The participants also discussed issues of labor rights and combating human trafficking, ensuring gender equality, cooperation in support for persons with disabilities, conditions of detention in places of detention.

The American side acknowledged that in Uzbekistan, within the framework of the New Uzbekistan Development Strategy, large-scale reforms are being carried out in all aspects of state and social construction.

Representatives of Uzbekistan put forward clear and constructive proposals for further strengthening and continuing cooperation within the framework of the issues included in the agenda of the event.

Members of the delegation led by the Minister of Justice of Uzbekistan also took part in several joint events, in particular, meetings with the U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, members of Congress and representatives of the U.S. Government, and USAID leadership.
