The State of Qatar’s choice of Uzbekistan to host the ceremony honoring the award winners this year reflects Qatar’s commitment to supporting international efforts to combat corruption and promote integrity and transparency, especially the two countries’ efforts to deepen and develop relations to benefit the interests of the peoples of both countries, pointing out that cooperation between countries to combat corruption requires widespread effort and coordination to achieve maximum effectiveness in confronting this dangerous phenomenon, this would reduce its negative effects and enhance economic and social stability at the global level.
Director-General of Qatar News Agency (QNA) Ahmed bin Saeed Al Rumaihi stressed that the “Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award” which was launched for the first time in 2016, confirms the interest and support of the wise leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, for all regional and international efforts that limit corruption, considering it a scourge that hinders the achievement of development in the entire world. His Excellency said that the Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award, hosted in the Republic of Uzbekistan, is considered a genuine reminder from Qatar to the world on the importance of fighting corruption and motivating everyone to implement the decisive measures set by the United Nations Convention against Corruption by celebrating the innovative and creative achievements of individuals and institutions who spare no effort in fighting corruption wherever it may be.
