Qatar News Agency’s journalists visited UzA

Collaboration between Uzbekistan and Qatar has been developing at an accelerated pace. High-level bilateral visits were carried out this year.

Partnership in information exchange enhances as the friendship between the two countries strengthens. Uzbekistan National News Agency – UzA and the Qatar News Agency – QNA are essential in this process.

As part of the visit of the QNA delegation to Uzbekistan, today UzA Director General Abdusaid Kuchimov met with the Assistant Director of the News Department at Qatar News Agency – QNA Yousef Ahmed Alsayed.

During the dialogue, it was emphasized that collaboration between Uzbekistan and Qatar is rapidly developing. In particular, on June 5-6, the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, visited Uzbekistan, and 15 documents were signed during talks in Samarkand. It was also noted that the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan took part in the opening ceremony of the Expo 2023 Doha as part of his visit to the State of Qatar at the invitation of Amir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on October 1-2 this year.

“Qatar News Agency, headquartered in Doha, was established on May 25, 1975”, Yousef Ahmed Alsayed said. “A major news agency specializing in news from the Persian Gulf has a special role in the Arab media world. Our website, equipped with modern multimedia equipment, disseminates news in Arabic, English, Spanish and Portuguese”.

At the meeting, it was noted that successful reforms to create a New Uzbekistan are already bearing fruit, positive changes are being observed in all sectors, and the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy is an essential guideline.

At the meeting, it was emphasized that in Uzbekistan, special attention is paid to creating conditions for media representatives, that the role of journalists is strengthening in ensuring freedom of speech, increasing the level of transparency and openness of the activities of government bodies, forming a robust civil society, and fighting against corruption. It was recognized that cooperation with Qatar in these areas is essential.

The prospects for signing a Cooperation Agreement between UzA and QNA were discussed following the dialogue.
