The event, organized by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (Germany), was attended by deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, representatives of state agencies, public and international organizations, national and international experts and journalists.

In Uzbekistan, special attention is paid to creation of effective mechanisms for implementation of public control. The adoption of the Law "On public control" plays an important role in ensuring effectiveness of public services that will affect social and public interests.

Legal aspects of public control, national and foreign experience gained in this sphere were discussed at the workshop. Participants spoke about activity carried out by civil society institutions, political parties, trade unions and other representative authorities, directly considered subjects of public control.

Participants expressed their views on difference between public control and other types of control, on the rights and obligations of the state authorities in the field of public control, advantages of public control, the role of the mass media in these process, as well as studying methods of public opinion.
