08:17 / 2022-04-11

Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan hosted a briefing on the results of the visit to Uzbekistan of the Cotton Campaign delegation and the cancellation of the cotton boycott.

The event was attended by the Director of the Regional Chamber Rashit Mustapayev, Deputy Director Akku Aitjanova, heads of Kezbi company and Stitch Bos studio of machine embroidery, representatives of the Center for the Development of Women's Entrepreneurship, Chairman of Pakhtakor Ethnic and Cultural Association and media, as well as entrepreneurs of the region.

At the briefing, it was noted that lifting the boycott of Uzbek cotton opens the way to a successful business in Uzbekistan for the world's leading brands, which creates broad prospects for increasing the country's export potential, attracting the most advanced technologies to the cotton processing and textile industries, as well as creating jobs.

It was also emphasized that the Government of Uzbekistan adopted 32 normative legal acts in 2019-2021, ratified several conventions and protocols of the International Labour Organization. One of the most effective measures became the strengthening of criminal liability for the use of child and forced labor.

The participants exchanged views, and entrepreneurs were provided with the necessary information regarding textile products of Uzbekistan exporters.
