Prospects of employee’s professional development under discussion
10:39 / 2024-04-28

Director of the International Institute for Central Asia Javlon Vakhabov met with the Executive Vice President for Strategic Development of the American Councils for International Education Michael Curtis, a non-governmental non-profit organization specializing in the implementation of educational programs for teacher training and English language teaching, as well as the expansion of academic exchanges.

The parties discussed the educational programs being implemented in Uzbekistan. As Michael Curtis noted, the four-year program “English Speaking Nation” was recently completed, according to which more than 18 thousand teachers in the country were trained in advanced English teaching methods. 452 teachers have received internationally recognized certificates of teaching English – TESOL, and 693 teachers have become instructors and mentors, forming an expert network to support their colleagues across the country. This was made possible thanks to the human capital development policy pursued by the President of Uzbekistan, which pays special attention to bringing the quality of education in line with advanced international standards.

The prospects of cooperation between IICA and the American Councils for International Education were also discussed at the meeting. In particular, the possibilities of organizing special courses on teaching methods of writing scientific articles, selecting suitable academic journals, and searching for research grants were considered. In addition, the parties discussed the participation of the Institute’s experts in programs to improve the level of knowledge of the English language.
