Prospects of cooperation in ensuring human rights

On May 23, a briefing on the results of the Third National Report of the Republic of Uzbekistan within the framework of the Universal Periodic Review of the UN Human Rights Council was held in Tashkent.Director of the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan A.Saidov, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan M.Istamov, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs B.Odilov, Deputy Prosecutor General E.Yuldoshev and others presented information on the results of consideration of the Third National Report of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
According to the results of the Third National Report of the Republic of Uzbekistan, more than 200 recommendations were received from the Human Rights Council within the framework of the Universal Periodic Review.
At the event, it was noted that the delegation of the Human Rights Council highly appreciated Uzbekistan’s actions in the field of human rights, the country’s achievements, constitutional, institutional, administrative reforms, and openness of the republic for constructive dialogue.
It was emphasized that the adoption of the Action Strategy on five priority areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021 demonstrated that the country is ready to further develop ensuring human rights and fulfill international obligations in this direction.
At the event, a decree of the President “On the program of events dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights” and the Roadmap on ensuring freedom of religion and belief, approved by the joint resolution of the Kengashes of chambers of the Parliament, adopted on May 5, 2018, based on the recommendations of the Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief of the UN Human Rights Council, was presented.
Within the framework of the event, a joint project was signed between the United Nations Development Programme and the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan on supporting implementation of recommendations of the Charter and the UN treaty bodies in Uzbekistan.
