Ambassador of Uzbekistan Abat Fayzullayev has met with the Director for Political Affairs of the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of Austria Gregor Koessler.

The parties discussed the state and prospects for the development of multifaceted relations, priority areas of interaction within international organizations and political platforms.

Views were exchanged on the situation in the region and Afghanistan. The Austrian diplomat expressed gratitude to the Government of Uzbekistan for the support provided in organizing the evacuation of Austrian citizens from Afghanistan through the territory of Uzbekistan.

Mr. Gregor Koessler highly appreciated the role of Uzbekistan in creating an atmosphere of good neighborliness in Central Asia, as well as the efforts of the country's leadership in the peaceful settlement of the Afghan problem and ensuring stability in the region.

The importance of close coordination to promote a peaceful settlement of the Afghan problem and maintaining regular political consultations on the situation in the region was noted.
