Vice President and Corporate Secretary of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Ludger Schuknecht visited Uzbekistan to discuss the organization of the AIIB Annual Meeting in Samarkand in September this year.

During the visit, productive meetings were held with Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khojayev, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the AIIB Laziz Kudratov, as well as Minister of Transport Ilkhom Mahkamov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bobur Usmanov.

Issues for discussion included AIIB projects currently under development and preparations for the AIIB Annual Meeting.

“We have successfully held constructive and productive negotiations with our partners in Uzbekistan. I am inspired by the country’s desire for progress and its readiness for fruitful discussions, especially in anticipation of the AIIB Annual Meeting”, Vice President Ludger Schuknecht said.

Vice President Ludger Schuknecht, accompanied by the Deputy Hokim of Samarkand, toured the Silk Road Samarkand Congress Center, where the annual meeting is expected to be held. He also visited the city’s historical places, got acquainted with the cultural heritage, and tasted traditional dishes of this amazing region.
