Beijing hosted the 8th meeting of the Subcommittee on Security Cooperation of the Uzbekistan – China Intergovernmental Committee and the next round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Uzbekistan and China.
According to Uzbekistan MFA, the delegations of the parties were led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bobur Usmanov and Vice Foreign Minister of China Sun Weidong.
The meeting focused on the state and prospects for further development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and China, with a particular emphasis on accelerating the implementation of agreements reached following the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to China in January 2024.
The Chinese side highly appreciated the large-scale reforms being carried out in the country, which aim to improve public administration and the legislative sphere and liberalize and modernize the national economy.
The participants expressed their mutual interest in realizing the potential to strengthen partnerships in various spheres, including political, trade, economic, investment, military, cultural, and humanitarian, highlighting the broad scope of their cooperation.
Proposals to increase cultural, humanitarian, and tourist exchanges were considered.
Special attention was paid to the issues of enhancing interaction between the parties within the UN and other international institutions. Views were exchanged on current aspects of international and regional politics.
