Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Timur Rakhmanov met with the new Minister of Transport of Latvia, Atis Švinka.

The meeting focused on developing bilateral trade, economic, and transport-logistics cooperation.

During the talks, the minister emphasized that Latvia views Uzbekistan as a key partner in Central Asia. The parties noted the intensification of trade and economic cooperation and the growth in bilateral trade turnover.

Riga expressed its interest in further deepening cooperation in transport and logistics, as evidenced by establishing a transport attaché position at the Latvian Embassy in Uzbekistan.

The Latvian Ministry of Transport also expressed its readiness to facilitate the establishment of cooperation between Uzbekistan exporters and Latvia’s port infrastructure, including in matters related to the provision of preferential terms.

The parties exchanged views on increasing the frequency of Uzbekistan Airways flights on the Tashkent – Riga route, prospects for expanding cooperation between the airlines of both countries, including the development of joint flights on Asian routes, the intensification of e-commerce, and the possibility of opening a Latvia Post representative office in Uzbekistan.
