The Minister of Transport Ilkhom Mahkamov has met with the Afghanistan delegation led by the Acting Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Hamidullah Akhundzadeh.

According to the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan, the parties discussed issues of developing cooperation in transport and logistics:

– ensuring the collection of payments and fees for road transport on a parity basis;

– development of transit and bilateral transportation through the territory of Afghanistan;

– provision of benefits on tariff rates for railway transportation;

– acceleration of the Uzbekistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan railway construction project.

“Afghanistan cannot be allowed to be left alone with its problems”, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said, speaking on November 24 in Baku at the summit of the United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA). “Without establishing an international dialogue with the current government, it will be impossible to achieve any positive result”.
