Deputy Minister of Water Resources of Uzbekistan Zokir Ishpulatov met with Barak Graber, Director of International Business of the Israeli company Mekorot.
During the dialogue, the parties reviewed the prospects for bilateral cooperation.
Mr. Graber presented information about the company’s activities and experience. It was noted that the Israeli national water supply company Mekorot, founded in 1937, currently provides 80 percent of drinking water and about 70 percent of the country’s total water consumption.
One of the company’s key achievements is reducing water losses to 3-4 percent, which is several times lower than the average level in developed countries, where losses reach approximately 15 percent. Each year, Mekorot processes about 450 million cubic meters of water, 90 percent of which is allocated to the needs of agriculture and urban populations.
At the meeting, advanced solutions and practices were presented in areas such as improving water supply systems, water quality control, infrastructure modernization, wastewater treatment and desalination, the introduction of modern technologies, and the digitalization of the sector.
Representatives of the Israeli company put forward several proposals for developing cooperation with Uzbekistan.
