A round-table conversation has taken place at the Kamolot youth camp in Bostonliq District of Tashkent Region, northern Uzbekistan, on young people’s role in developing the national internet segment.

The event held by the central council of the Kamolot youth public movement jointly with the public foundation at the Oliy Majlis (parliament) of the Republic of Uzbekistan for supporting nongovernmental non-commercial organizations and other civil society institutions, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education and the youth initiative centre was attended by specialists on internet journalism, web programmers, mass media workers and students.

It was said that work being carried out under the leadership of the country’s President on introducing information technologies in all spheres and on equipping young people to rationally use the world wide web was yielding weighty results.

The presidential resolution dated 21 March 2012 “On measures to further introduce and develop modern information communication technologies” is an important guidance document for action in this area.

A media camp arranged as part of students’ internet action project is aimed at increasing the number of national sites that are perfect in every way, creating social networks within the domain .uz and identifying and giving comprehensive support to young talents working in this sphere.

“This year specialists taught us internet journalism, web programming and site management for six days,” says a student of Andijon agrarian institute, Bobomirzo Khojiakbarov.

On the basis of knowledge gained at the camp, students demonstrated their projects on the subject of  “What should attention be paid to in further developing the national internet segment?” and “the use of global network information and rules of information security”.

Students who actively participated in the training at the media camp were awarded diplomas and memorable gifts.
