A conference dedicated to the great sons of the Uzbek people, Alisher Navoi and Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur’s birth, was held at one of India’s leading higher education institutions – Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Ambassador of Uzbekistan Sardor Rustambayev, drawing attention to the fact that literature is one of the essential areas that has brought our peoples closer together over the centuries, noted that the works of representatives of Indian literature in Uzbekistan and Uzbek literature in India are read with great love and interest.

Teachers and professors of Andijan State University, Namangan Institute of Engineering and Technology, and Jawaharlal Nehru University expressed their opinions and scientific views on the importance of the cultural and spiritual heritage of Alisher Navoi and Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur for today’s generation.

In particular, Abdul Khaliq Rashid, a Professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University, dwelled in detail on the historical merit of Alisher Navoi in the development of the Uzbek literary language. He spoke about the content and significance of the book “Muhokamat ul-Lug'atayn”, in which the great thinker clearly expressed the beauty and rich possibilities of the Uzbek language.

At the conference, it was noted that the Chairperson of the Centre of Persian and Central Asian Studies of the University, Akhlaq Ahmad Ahan, will take part and make a scientific report at the upcoming international symposium in Tashkent dedicated to Alisher Navoi’s birth.

“Alisher Navoi is a legendary and great symbol, bringing India and Uzbekistan together in a cultural and spiritual direction, and his personality, creativity and literary traditions are a common heritage for both peoples”, says Professor Akhlaq Ahmad Ahan. “I am very pleased to participate in the international conference in Uzbekistan and look forward to this event”.
