The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtayev, met with the Federal Minister of the National Health Services Regulations and Coordination of this country, Syed Mustafa Kamal, in Islamabad.
During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation in healthcare, including the development of medical services, scientific-educational collaboration, the exchange of experience, and the introduction of innovative technologies in medicine.
Opening the meeting, Syed Mustafa Kamal noted the deep historical and cultural ties that unite Uzbekistan and Pakistan, stressing the need to intensify partnership not only in the economy, but also in the humanitarian sphere. He also recalled that the official visit of the Pakistani delegation to Uzbekistan in February this year gave an impetus to the development of bilateral relations, including in the field of healthcare.
The Pakistani Minister expressed interest in elevating cooperation in the field of medicine to a strategic partnership, focusing on concrete and practical results.
The Uzbek side informed about the large-scale reforms in the healthcare system carried out in the country under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, including measures to improve the quality of medical services, protect the health of women and children, as well as the introduction of advanced technologies and digital solutions.
The parties reached an agreement to jointly work out several areas of cooperation, in particular, strengthening the legal framework for collaboration between the Ministries of Health, creating joint educational programs and scientific research between universities of the two countries, organizing internships and advanced training for doctors.
Federal Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal stressed the importance of developing specific proposals in these areas and announced his intention to visit Uzbekistan to hold talks with the country’s Minister of Health on further deepening bilateral cooperation.
