The Tashkent Regional stage of “The most exemplary primary organization of the Women’s Committee” contest has taken place.

At the event held under the slogan of “My life, my destiny – my sacred homeland, my beautiful and unique Uzbekistan”, S.Fayziyeva, deputy hokim (governor) of the region and chairperson of the regional women’s committee, and others said that special attention being paid to raising the socio-political activeness of women and girls in the country and to supporting their enthusiasm and initiative was producing great results.

The presidential decree dated 25 May 2004 “On additional measures to support the activity of the Women’s Committee of Uzbekistan” is an important programme document in this sphere.

At enterprises, organizations and establishments as well as citizens’ self-governing bodies in Tashkent Region, more than 3 thousand 800 primary organizations of the Women’s Committee are working effectively in such areas as propagating a healthy lifestyle, protecting motherhood and childhood, providing employment and holding moral enlightenment events.

“I am glad that I have won in the nomination of the most exemplary primary organization of the women’s committees of neighbourhood citizens’ gatherings, ” says Shahnoza Usmonaliyeva, an active member of the Istiqlol neighbourhood citizens’ gathering in Yuqori Chirchiq District.

Winners were identified in all the nominations, and they are through to the republican stage of the contest.

A deputy prime minister of Uzbekistan and chairperson of the republic’s Women’s Committee, E.Bositkhonova, made a speech at the event.
