Presidents exchange opinions on further development of cooperation
At the “Avaza” centre of congresses in Turkmenbashi, talks in private session have taken place between President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.
Turkmenbashi, 20 May: Special correspondent of UzA Abu Bakir Orozov reports.At the “Avaza” centre of congresses in Turkmenbashi, talks in private session have taken place between President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.
It was noted at the talks that the two countries’ cooperation was developing consistently and that this visit of the President of Uzbekistan would give a new impetus to the bilateral partnership on the basis of mutual trust, respect and interest and would serve to take the relations between the two countries to a higher level.
The Presidents held a detailed exchange of opinions on the current state of and prospects for the development of the two countries’ cooperation and on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The Heads of State emphasized that there was every possibily for the further expansion of the scales of practical results of agreements reached within the framework of the state visit of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyovev to Turkmenistan in March this year.
The President of Uzbekistan said: It is not for nothing that we are meeting at “Avaza”. Uzbekistan is intent on gaining access to the Caspian Sea and international transport corridors through Turkmenistan’s ports.
The peace-loving foreign policies of the two states, support for each other on international issues and similarity between their approaches to issues of countering various threats and challenges were noted especially.
Both Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan are proponents of jointly fighting against terrorism, religious extremism, drugs and weapons smuggling.
The two countries are unanimous in their stances that the development of integration is an important factor in the strengthening of peace and stability in Central Asia and in the ensuring of dynamic development.
