Presidential elections kick off in Uzbekistan

This year’s elections are different from previous elections in terms of the legal and regulatory framework. Elections are an extremely important political process. Every conscious citizen must participate in it. It is important to conduct this process in a positive mood, to ensure the active participation of all segments of the population.

19,859,127 voters were included in the voter lists in the polling stations of the country. Of these, 9,459,273 or 48 percent are men, 10,399,854 or 52% are women, 6,458,283 young people under 30. 887,686 of them will vote in the elections for the first time. 299,780 voters were included in the voter lists at 54 polling stations in foreign countries.

971 international observers, including about 20 international organizations, in particular, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe and the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Commonwealth of Independent States and CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, the Turkic Council, Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic Council and Organization of Islamic Cooperation and 631 international observers from other international structures, and 340 international observers from nearly 50 countries are directly observing the elections.

By the electoral legislation, early voting was held on 14-20 October this year for voters who are unable to be at their place of residence on the election day. The Central Election Commission set the time for early voting at polling stations from 9:00 to 19:00.

421,618 voters cast their ballots ahead of schedule in the Presidential elections, which were attended by 301,094 voters in the country and 120,524 voters in foreign countries.

Campaigning was conducted by the candidates nominated by the political parties and their authorized persons in high spirits. Equal conditions have been created for all political parties and candidates. Their activities and campaigning were covered equally and widely in the media and social networks.
