After the President’s visit...
A small library. The high shelves are filled with books in alphabetical order. The librarian is an attentive, intelligent woman who will always help you find the right literature. You can also discuss your favorite book with her. And in the filing cabinet, she quickly finds your card.
The library industry is transforming. With the rapid development of global networks and technologies, the rules regarding libraries are also changing. The library works with an electronic database. Audio applications of books with a special code are created. And the librarian uses modern technologies. Optimal conditions for reading have been created.
The modern building of the library, located in Davlatabad district of Namangan, can further enrich the ideas about the modern center of education. The library “Youth Enlightenment Center of New Uzbekistan” has become a favorite place for residents. The project worth 24.4 billion UZS was implemented in 2021. Then the library had 30,000 books in stock. Now the number of fiction and scientific literature, textbooks is almost 70 thousand units.
The library occupies 1,700 square meters and can provide services to 1,200 visitors at the same time.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during his visit to Namangan region on February 3, also got acquainted with the activities of this library and talked with young people. We visited the library after the visit of the Head of state.
“We always feel that the Head of state pays special attention to every project related to our future, youth”, says the head of the library, Dilnoza Azizova. – We told the President about our work to promote reading and learning foreign languages. The Head of state listened to us with paternal care, gave appropriate recommendations and a new impetus to work. We are already working on new projects. Asking questions about what a modern library and librarian should be like, we try to improve our activities. For example, our library is connected to the largest digital library network in the world. Readers can freely and free of charge use foreign literature.
When entering the library, the visitor receives a special ID card through the information kiosk. This creates convenience for the reader in self-service. A reader who has such a card may not contact the librarian to take the book with him or return it. Everything is done electronically.
Additional services can be obtained on the third floor of the library. In particular, there is an IT Park here, where young people are trained in modern professions. In a specially equipped basement of the library, there are an archive and a book fund.
A reading room with 75 seats has been created for children on the ground floor. Books for children under 12 are placed here. There is equipment to enrich the creative thinking of children. There is also a special room with books for the blind.
This good deed has its continuation – the implementation of successful projects in the library and the universities of the region begins.
