President of Uzbekistan receives the Russian delegation

On March 25, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maksim Reshetnikov, who heads the Russian delegation at the Tashkent International Investment Forum.

Maksim Reshetnikov conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin to the President of Uzbekistan, and sincerely congratulated him on the successful results of the Tashkent Forum.

Issues of practical implementation of agreements at the highest level on enhancing multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia were considered. The main attention was paid to the promotion of specific projects of industrial cooperation and ensuring positive dynamics in the growth of mutual trade indicators.

It was noted with satisfaction that last year the trade turnover increased by a third and reached a record $7.5 billion. In the first months of this year, the increase in trade indicators exceeded 50 percent.

Over 2,000 joint ventures are successfully operating in Uzbekistan, and the volume of attracted Russian investments in the country’s economy is more than $10 billion.

During the conversation, the importance of continuing close cooperation at the level of the governments of the two countries, as well as the effective use of the potential of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia, was emphasized.
