President: Adherence to a healthy lifestyle can prevent many diseases
20:57 / 2020-11-06

Healthcare is a factor contributing only 10 percent of human health.

According to WHO, healthcare is a factor contributing only 10 percent of human health. Genetic factors account for 15 percent, the environment 20 and, most importantly, lifestyle 55 percent.

Due to low physical activity, overeating, especially in the evening, high blood pressure is observed in 30 percent, high cholesterol in about 46 percent of the population.

In 60 percent of cases, the severe course of coronavirus infection revealed an association with comorbidities resulting from an unhealthy lifestyle.

We all need to realize that basic adherence to a healthy lifestyle – proper nutrition and physical activity – can prevent many diseases and save human lives.

However, a deficiency of folate and iron occurs in 40 percent of women, and 55 percent of children under the age of 5 have iron deficiency anemia. 70 percent of preschool and school children suffer from intestinal parasitic diseases.

The following will be provided free of charge starting June 1 next year:

vitamins and micronutrients – for children under 5;

antiparasitic drugs – for children under 10;

iodine – for pregnant women, nursing mothers and children under 15;

folic acid and ferrum – for women under 35.

These medicines and vitamins will be distributed by family doctors.

At the meeting it was noted that young people should be aware from a very young age of the hard consequences of unhealthy diets and lifestyles.
