Preserving the modernist architecture of Tashkent
The Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan presents a research project “Tashkent. Modernism XX/XXI”, which aims to document, interpret and preserve the modernist architecture of the capital.
Experts took twenty monuments of Art Nouveau as a basis. They represent the architectural, social and historical aspects of Tashkent.
According to the Art and Culture Development Foundation, the materials collected as part of the study allow to look at seemingly familiar urban stories from a different angle, recall what has been forgotten, and build a relevant context.
The project involved an international team of architects, historians and restoration experts.
