Representatives of the tourism sector of Samarkand region are touring European countries.

A delegation from Samarkand Territorial Administration of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development and the Inspectorate for the Protection and Use of Cultural Heritage Objects of Samarkand Region held a presentation event “Samarkand – the tourist gate of New Uzbekistan” in Valencia, Spain. 

Employees of tourism enterprises and museums operating in Spain, archaeological scientists, and media workers were informed about the tourism opportunities in Samarkand.

It was noted that relations between Samarkand and Spain were formed in the era of Amir Temur and the Temurids. Ambassadors of Spain worked in the Sahibkiran empire.

The event participants were very interested in information about the unique exhibits of the region’s museums and the conditions created for tourists at Samarkand International Airport, the Silk Road Samarkand Tourist Center, and other facilities.

Proposals were made to attract Spanish tourists to Uzbekistan, organize charter flights, and hold cultural days in the cities of the two countries.
