For the first time in the country, the Uzbekistan Sumo Championship among youth and adults will be held on January 16-17.

Coaches and specialists got familiar with the preparatory work underway at the sports complex of the Uzbek State University of Physical Culture and Sports, where the competitions will take place.

R. Matkarimov, Rector of UzSUPCS, and K. Usmanov, Chairman of the Uzbekistan Sumo Federation, put forward ideas for the development of sumo.

As noted during the discussions, athletes who finish in the top three at the championship will be included in Uzbekistan’s national team. The tournament winners will earn the right to participate in the 27th World Championship, which will be held in Baku in October.
