On May 4, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group Bandar Hajjar.
The parties discussed issues related to the preparation and holding of the 46th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the IsDB Group in Tashkent.
According to the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, the course of preparation for the event and the implementation of measures to address related organizational issues were considered. Operational interaction with the bank's representatives of specialized working groups consisting of representatives of relevant ministries and agencies from the Uzbek side was noted.
Bandar Hajjar informed the Uzbek side about his intention to visit Uzbekistan for a roadshow dedicated to the wide coverage of the Annual Meeting in the domestic and foreign media.
The implementation of projects and initiatives in Uzbekistan, implemented with the support of the IsDB was also discussed. The Head of the bank highly appreciated the implementation of the initiative to create an Economic Support Fund in Uzbekistan and expressed hope that this financial institution will become a powerful tool for stimulating economic development, reducing poverty and improving the wellbeing of the country's population.
The prospects for cooperation in mobilizing additional resources and attracting new partners to join the Fund, such as the Saudi Fund for Development, the Public Investment Fund, financial institutions of the Arab Coordination Group and private investors, were discussed.
Following the meeting, further actions within the framework of the cooperation agenda were outlined.
