Uzbekistan’s diplomatic mission in Kuala Lumpur organized a meeting with the leadership of the World Sufi Center within the framework of the visit of the delegation of Bukhara region’s Hokimiyat to Malaysia.
Issues of promoting the opportunities for pilgrimage tourism in Uzbekistan and increasing the tourist flow of Malaysian pilgrims to the country were discussed at the meeting.
The World Sufi Center was established in 2018 and is a non-governmental organization headquartered in Kuala Lumpur.
The Malaysian side was provided with detailed information about measures taken in Uzbekistan to develop a culture of tolerance and promote the humanistic essence of the religion of Islam, further development of pilgrimage tourism, as well as ongoing modernization of the country’s tourism infrastructure.
Following the talks, agreements were reached on participation in the Ziyorat Tourism Week in Uzbekistan in early November 2022, preparation for the Third Naqshbandiyya Tourism Festival in Bukhara in early 2023, cooperation in promoting the potential of pilgrimage tourism in Uzbekistan, especially the Islamic shrines of the cities of Bukhara, Samarkand, Tashkent and Termez, as well as the cultural-historical heritage of the country among the public of Malaysia and members of the World Sufi Center.
