The Central Election Commission’s regular meeting was held on August 21. The participants considered issues related to the preparation for the elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, regional, district, and city Councils of People’s Deputies, and their conduct.
As previously reported, on August 16 this year, the Central Election Commission received applications for admission to the elections from the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businesspeople – the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, the Democratic Party of Uzbekistan “Milliy Tiklanish” and the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan through the “E-saylov” information system, and on August 17 – from the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan and the Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan “Adolat”.
On the same day that political party applications were submitted, their authorized representatives handed over to the Central Election Commission signature sheets of voters supporting the parties’ participation in the elections.
The Central Election Commission formed 33 expert groups to check the signature sheets. These groups include qualified specialists from the Khadicha Suleymanova Republican Forensic Center under the Ministry of Justice, the Main Forensic Center and subsystems of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, professors and teachers of the Tashkent State University of Law, and representatives of civil society, who checked the correctness of filling out the signature sheets in accordance with the law.
It was established that each political party collected more than 40 thousand valid signatures. Based on this, a decision was made to allow political parties to participate in the elections of deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and local Councils.
Based on Article 69 of the Election Code, in accordance with the procedure for receiving documents from political parties, first of all, the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businesspeople – the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan was granted admission, then the Democratic Party of Uzbekistan “Milliy Tiklanish”, the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan, the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan and the Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan “Adolat”.
According to Article 31 of the Election Code, the ballot paper for the elections of deputies of the Legislative Chamber in a single electoral district shall include the names and symbols of the participating political parties sequentially in accordance with the order in which they were admitted to participate in the elections.
At the same time, at the meeting, held via videoconference, information was heard from several territorial commissions on the work being carried out to prepare for the elections.
