Tashkent hosted the World Chess Championships, which lasted for 5 days.
The winners of the World Championships for schoolchildren aged 9 to 17 and the World Championships for juniors under 20 were determined.
About 300 athletes from Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, Spain, Hungary, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nigeria, Slovenia, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States participated in these prestigious competitions, which had a prize fund of 20,000 euros.
Uzbekistan was worthily defended by such talented athletes as Mukhiddin Madaminov, Muhammadzohid Suyarov, Humoyun Bekmuratov, Almaz Rakhmatullayev, Asrorjon Omonov, Afruza Hamdamova, Guldona Karimova, Umida Omonova, Maftuna Bobomurodova, Ozoda Shakhzodova, Gulhumor Najmiddinova, Mohizoda Mukhsinova. Uzbekistan’s chess players became first in the team events. The following places were taken by Kazakhstan and the team acting on behalf of FIDE.
