People of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan share a common past, present and future

Over the past few years, the number of people traveling from Uzbekistan to Tajikistan and from Tajikistan to Uzbekistan has increased.

Over the past few years, the number of people traveling from Uzbekistan to Tajikistan and from Tajikistan to Uzbekistan has increased. Many of them cross the border through the “Oybek” border checkpoint in Tashkent region.

People of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan are connected by ancient bonds of friendship, good neighborliness, one religion and similar culture, traditions and customs. The revival of historical ties between the two countries has greatly pleased people who for many years were deprived of the opportunity to visit relatives and friends. The opening of checkpoints at the border, resumption of transport links between the two countries is important.

As it is known, according to the relevant resolution of the President of Uzbekistan of March 14, 2018, an agreement was approved between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan of March 9, 2018 on mutual trips of citizens. In accordance with the resolution of March 16, 2018, citizens of the Republic of Tajikistan may stay on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan without a visa for up to 30 days.

The “Oybek” checkpoint is equipped with modern video surveillance cameras, technical control devices and equipment in order to provide fast and high-quality service to citizens traveling across the border. All conditions have been created for movement of citizens with young children, provision of medical assistance if necessary, as well as there is a waiting room. Information is provided on the norms of currency, goods and material values allowed for transportation by citizens, in Uzbek, Tajik and Russian.
