Wreaths were laid at the monument to the Grieving Mother at Memorial Square in the center of Nurafshon.

The event was attended by Tashkent region’s Hokim Zoyir Mirzayev, responsible persons of various enterprises and organizations, and the general public. The participants honored the memory of those who laid down their heads in the name of peace and prosperity of the Motherland and people. The National Anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan was performed by a military orchestra.

Almost 123 thousand people were sent from Tashkent region to the fronts of the Second World War. Over 70 thousand died, and about 5.5 thousand were missing.

On the eve of the holiday, Tashkent region’s Hokim visited war veterans, read out the President’s congratulations, and presented them with a one-time cash prize and memorable gifts.
