The central council of the Uzbekistan People’s Democratic Party has held a round-table conversation at the national press centre on the theme of “Mass media are important in dialogue with the people”.

At the round-table conversation, H.Ketmonov, chairman of the party’s central council; and others said that under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev new principles and approaches were worked out for the further steady and rapid development of the country.

Mass media employees’ selflessness and industrious work are also of important significance here.

In the 2017-2021 Action Strategy on five priority areas of the development of the Republic of Uzbekistan, special attention is given to the strengthening of mass media’s role and the protection of journalists’ professional activities.

“The rapid pace of life today requires journalists to explain to our people the essence and significance of changes and new processes and to keep pace with the current era,” says Dilshoda Hamdamova, political commentator of the “Ozbekiston” radio channel.

During the round-table conversation, it was said that journalists had made a worthy contribution to impartial and truthful coverage of the implementation of the programme tasks and work of the Uzbekistan People’s Democratic Party.

Gifts were given to a number of journalists who had been active in giving coverage of the party’s work.
