Pakistan celebrates the 580th anniversary of Alisher Navoi’s birth

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan, together with the Central Asian Studies Institute (CASI) at the University of Peshawar, organized a roundtable discussion timed to the 580th anniversary of Alisher Navoi’s birth.

The event was attended by professors, teachers, students and experts.

It was noted that the celebration of the 580th anniversary of Alisher Navoi’s birth in Peshawar is an honor for Pashtuns and other peoples living in Pakistan, who have always been a friendly nation for Uzbekistan. It was emphasized that Pakistani people welcome the strengthening of the friendship of our peoples and are ready to honor the common cultural heritage together.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s initiatives on strengthening cooperation with Pakistan were highly appreciated at the event. The visits of delegations of the two countries held at the government level, and negotiations in Tashkent and Islamabad on the construction of Termez – Mazar-i-Sharif – Kabul – Peshawar railway corridor. This project will provide an opportunity to establish transport communications between the countries of the two regions and provide access to the southern ports of Pakistan, and enter the markets of Central Asia, CIS and Europe.
