With the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the UK, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies and the Imam Maturidi International Scientific Research Center at the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan.
The event was attended by the Director of the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Farhan Nizami, Deputy Registrar Richard Weyers and coordinator of scholarship programs Talal Al-Azem, the Director of the Imam Maturidi International Scientific Research Center Davronbek Maqsudov, scientific secretary Aziz Tajiyev and others.
Mr. Farhan Nizami noted that Uzbekistan has a rich spiritual, cultural and scientific heritage, the great scientists and thinkers of the Uzbek land have made a huge contribution to the development of Islamic civilization and world science. It was emphasized that the development of research and partnerships with relevant institutions of Uzbekistan is a priority for the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies.
Davronbek Maqsudov noted the coincidence of the goals and objectives of both centers in the study and popularization of the scientific heritage of the great thinkers and scientists of Central Asia, the need to exchange experience and knowledge in this direction.
