In 2017-2022, several reforms were carried out in agriculture, which gave a new impetus to the development of the industry.

Thus, the cotton yield increased from 23.8 centners per hectare in 2017 to 34 centners in 2022, the share of irrigated land – from 1.7 percent to 24 percent. Water-saving technologies have been introduced, 465 clusters have been created in various areas.

Changes in legislation related to trade liberalization and export promotion made it possible to increase the export of fruits and vegetables by 1.7 times, that is, from $652.3 million to $1,134.3 million.

Currently, 3,142 greenhouses operate in the country, of which 1,622 were built over the past five years. Their total area is 6,300 hectares.

According to the Institute of Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research in 2019-2022, Uzbekistan improved its position in the Global Food Security Index by 12 positions, rising from 85th to 73rd.
