Over 13,000 waterfowl sighted at the Tuyabuguz Reservoir
12:20 / 2023-01-19

The Ministry of Natural Resources carries out biotechnical measures in protected natural territories.

The practical results of the measures taken to protect wild animals on these frosty days can be seen in photographs taken by a camera trap installed in Nurata State Reserve. The Qizilqum argali is captured during their feeding. This is a very rare species of wild animal listed in the IUCN Red List.

Since the beginning of the year, 50 kilograms of hay, a ton of feed and 20 kilograms of salt have been placed in the designated areas of the reserve for additional feeding of animals to protect them, especially their endemic types. This process continues on a planned basis.

An annual census of waterfowl in open reservoirs was carried out at the Tuyabuguz Reservoir, in Tashkent region. More than 13,000 waterfowl have been sighted, most of which are wild ducks and red-crested pochards. Specialists met lapwing, wren, as well as rare birds listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Uzbekistan, such as shrike, little egret, black-headed kingfisher, white stork.
