Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva met with Saara-Sofia Sirén, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office on Gender.

Saara-Sofia Sirén highly praised the gender policy being implemented in Uzbekistan. She particularly highlighted the importance of initiatives aimed at combating gender-based violence and strengthening women’s rights in the country.

The significance of the rehabilitation and adaptation centers for women operating in 14 regions of Uzbekistan was emphasized. The vital role of civil society institutions and non-governmental organizations in advancing gender equality was also noted.

An agreement was reached to deepen cooperation between Uzbekistan and the OSCE, including within the framework of the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asian Countries. Experience sharing and coordination of best practices through bilateral platforms are also planned.
