OSCE/ODIHR mission highly appreciated preparations for elections

Tashkent hosted a press conference of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), dedicated to the preliminary results of the Early Presidential Election in Uzbekistan.

As noted, on May 8, the President of Uzbekistan signed a decree on calling early elections for the head of state. In accordance with the document, Early Presidential Election was scheduled for July 9, 2023.

According to the Election Code, if the President calls early elections for the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the elections must be held within two months. At the same time, the Central Election Commission appointed the terms of events for the preparation and conduction of elections. Preparation for the elections begins with the organizational work provided for by national legislation.

On May 10, 2023, the Central Election Commission launched the election campaign for Early Presidential Election. Thus, preparatory work began in the country. The entire process related to this important event was carried out by the CEC, district, and precinct election commissions in accordance with the Constitution, the Election Code, and the calendar plan. 

Voters and political parties, in accordance with the established procedure, were provided with prompt access to objective information.
