13:59 / 2024-07-22

Shusha hosted a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Alliance of Turkic News Agencies (ATNA) as part of the Second Global Media Forum.

Chairman of the Board of Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) Vugar Aliyev noted that the meeting will become essential in developing the Turkic world’s media sphere. The Alliance should become a structure that coordinates activities and initiates joint projects that will help bring countries closer together.

The event was attended by Yusuf Özkir, Board Member at Anadolu Agency, Bekzat Zhusupov, Chairman of the Board of Qazcontent, Director of Kabar Agency Mederbek Shermetaliev, Editor-in-Chief at UzA Durdona Salikhova and Creative Director of the MTI Agency Robert Karas.

It was noted that enhancing collaboration in cultural and other spheres is important in the fight of news agencies of the Turkic world against disinformation. The exchange of experience and the implementation of joint projects will contribute to the development and unification of alliance members. Participants suggested that ATNA could become an academy for journalists.

A presentation of the ATNA logo designs and website concept took place at the meeting. Joint training programs were considered. The participants appreciated the “Military Journalism” training organized by Anadolu and TİKA.

Last November, as part of the media summit of news agencies of the Turkic states in Istanbul, a joint declaration was signed on the creation of ATNA, designed to establish unity and broad cooperation between news agencies on editorial policy, collective training, and practical journalism, including the environmental agenda. The alliance was founded by the decision of the heads of five leading media outlets of the Turkic states – news agencies of Azerbaijan (AZERTAC), Türkiye (Anadolu), Kyrgyzstan (Kabar), Uzbekistan (UzA) and Kazakhstan (Qazcontent).
